Today, NSW Police recognised Norton Plumbing's Director, Adam Norton, with a Certificate of Appreciation at their Medals and Awards Presentation Day.
Last year, Adam stopped his car in the middle of the Gore Hill Freeway to help a stranger after a motorcycle accident. He and other bystanders gave first aid and CPR until NSW Fire and Rescue and then NSW Ambulance arrived. Despite everyone's efforts, the motorcyclist did not survive.

The certificate
The Medals and Awards Presentation Day was held jointly by North Shore Police Area Command and Northern Beaches Police Area Command. Adam's certificate, signed by Superintendent Paul Devaney, reads: "Mr Norton is commended for his efforts, rushing to the aid of a stranger without hesitation despite the potential risk to himself."

Just what you'd hope someone would do
Adam won't love this post. He'll tell you he did what anyone would do that day. But it's worth recognising: it takes real courage to stop on a busy freeway and put yourself at risk for a stranger. We're proud of him.
