Puretec FilterWall, installed properly
Whole-home water filtration
Drink, shower and live with cleaner water from every tap. Up to 98% less chlorine, less sediment, softer hair and less irritated skin, longer-lasting appliances. Fitted on your incoming mains by your local Coogee plumbers.
What FilterWall actually changes
Cleaner water at every tap, fitted on the way in
Sydney mains water is treated with chlorine before it reaches your home, which is what gives it that swimming-pool smell, especially in summer when chlorine levels are higher. The FilterWall sits on your incoming mains line, before water enters the house, and treats every drop heading to every tap.
The result is what Puretec promises: cleaner, better-tasting water at every tap, up to 98% less chlorine, softer hair and skin, less wear on appliances like dishwashers and washing machines, and no more bottled water in the fridge.
What it doesn't fix
Anything caused by your home's own internal pipework. If old galvanised or copper pipes inside the house are shedding, that's a separate job. Norton Plumbing can check pipework condition during the home assessment and recommend the best product for your home.
What we install
Puretec FilterWall F3, three-stage filtration
The F3 is the right choice for Sydney's soft mains water. It runs three filter cartridges in series, all WaterMark certified, all designed for whole-home flow rates up to 30 litres per minute. Suitable for most small-to-medium Eastern Suburbs homes.
- 10-year warranty on the unit (1 year parts and labour, 9 years parts).
- Up to 98% chlorine reduction at every tap in the house.
- WaterMark certified AS 3497, licence WM 74617.

The three stages
How the F3 cleans your incoming mains water
20 micron pleated sediment
Washable, replaced 6–12 months
Catches larger sediment like sand, silt and rust particles from the mains supply. The cartridge is washable between changes to maintain flow, but still needs replacing every 6 to 12 months.
5 micron polyspun
Replaced 6–12 months
Finer filtration that catches smaller particles the first stage misses, taking the load off the carbon block so it lasts longer and works better.
10 micron carbon block
Up to 98% chlorine reduction
Reduces chlorine taste and odour by up to 98%, removing the swimming-pool smell, improving taste, and softening the feel of water on skin and hair.

Frequently asked
What homeowners ask before installing a FilterWall
Two reasons. First, most Eastern Suburbs homes have a suitable exterior side wall, fence line, or service area where the Puretec FilterWall mounts cleanly, freeing up internal cupboard space. Second, this is an area where many homeowners invest in premium kitchen renovations, quality appliances like Miele dishwashers and espresso machines, and like the convenience of filtered water at every tap without ongoing bottled water. FilterWall pairs naturally with both.
All three cartridges should be replaced every 6 to 12 months, depending on household water use. On the F5, the Stage 1 pleated sediment cartridge is washable between changes, which helps maintain flow, but it still needs replacing on the same schedule as the other two because it becomes unhygienic over time. Norton Plumbing walks you through the schedule at handover and books in the first service call automatically.
Negligibly in normal use. The F5 and F6 are rated for a maximum flow of 55 litres per minute, which comfortably covers a large Eastern Suburbs home with two or more bathrooms running showers, taps, and appliances at the same time. The smaller F3 and F4 models handle up to 30 litres per minute, suitable for small-to-medium homes. If your incoming mains pressure is above 500 kPa, we fit a pressure-limiting valve as part of the install to protect the system and the rest of your plumbing.
That depends on the model. The F5 runs three stages: a fine sediment cartridge (washable) that catches sand, silt, and rust, a coarse sediment cartridge for finer particles, and a chlorine taste and odour cartridge that reduces chlorine by up to 98%. The F6 swaps the fine sediment stage for a scale reduction cartridge, so it handles chlorine, sediment, and hard-water scale in one unit. Both the F5 and F6 also aid in the reduction of PFAS (sometimes called forever chemicals) through their carbon filtration stages. The result across both models: no more swimming-pool smell, better-tasting water, softer hair, and less irritated skin.
The FilterWall F Series comes in four models across two sizes. The F5 (soft water) and F6 (hard water, with scale reduction) are the larger 20-inch units, designed for homes with two or more bathrooms and flow rates up to 55 litres per minute. The F3 and F4 are the compact 10-inch versions for smaller homes, rated at 30 litres per minute. Norton Plumbing recommends the right model during the free home assessment based on your home size, water hardness, and what you want filtered. We install the full Puretec range.
Outside, mounted on a structural wall or post, on the incoming mains line before water enters the house. The FilterWall is free-standing and aluminium-clad, designed for outdoor placement. Ideal spots are along a side fence, under the eaves of a side passage, or beside the water meter. The F5 and F6 are available in five core colours and five custom colours to match render, Colorbond fencing, or the side of the house. Norton Plumbing scopes the right spot during the free home assessment based on access to the main, shade, and how the unit will sit visually.
Puretec backs the FilterWall with a 10-year warranty: one year covers parts and labour, and the remaining nine years cover parts only (cartridges excluded, since they're consumables on a service schedule). Norton Plumbing's workmanship warranty sits on top: if anything we installed isn't right, we come back at no charge. The product is WaterMark certified to AS 3497 (licence WM 74617).
